Double page spread construction

 I started off by started by opening 'Adobe InDesign CS4', then i created a new worksheet with a landscape layout with six columns. First thing i had to do was to insert my image to get all the spacing right. To do this i clicked on 'Place':

 

Once i clicked on 'Place', i had to choose what image i wanted to use. I chose the image i wanted and clicked 'open':

 

Then i placed the image where i wanted it in my double page spread:

 

Next i imported my article text which i have done and i used the 'text wrap' tool to text wrap the text around the image:

 Finally i typed up the title for the double page spread:

 

I moved the title around and i moved the text around to suit my double page spread:

I still needed to add the magazine logo onto the doule page spread, so I got the magazine logo and placed it next to the page numbers:

I added the magazine logo onto both page numbers, to finish off i modified the title and modified the picture a little bit. This is how my finished magazine looked:

Double page spread research

To begin my research, I started looking at different magazine double page spreads.

As you can see from all the examples of the double page spreads, they all consist of large images of the artist which stand out from the rest of the pages.
The majority of the images are Medium shots of the artists apart from Vibe magazine where is a portrait long-shot.  The editions with women in the double page spreads tend to have sexually appealing pictures which will grab the readers attention and will make them read the rest of the magazine. On the other hand the pictures of the males tend to have them looking at the camera with straight face. They will be shown with expensive jewelery and clothing which would appeal to the male audience as that is what all the male audiences would want.

Article- A trip down memory lane with Vapourtwist and Kav

Introduction...Who is Vapourtwist...Who is Kav...How well do you know each other...Why did you start rapping?...Will you be forming a duo?...Things they miss the most and regrets..."We're off now"

"Since day one i knew we'd go far" Vapourtwist reveals that he and Kav have known each other since a young age and

Vapourtwist also known as Vapour by his close ones is a 19 year old rapper from Brixton who has been rapping for the past 3 years of his rollercoaster life. Kav on the other hand is another 19 year old rapper from Brixton who had begun his rapping careers only two years ago but turns heads everywhere he goes due to his successful career even though it's not been long.

How well do you know each other?

"We've been going to the same schools as each other for 16 years", Kav explains that they have known each other for so long as they've lived. "You do know that's a very long time but it seems like a short time to us" Vapour replies. "Don't worry vapour, we only just begun" Kav re-enforces that they're lives have only just begun.
 The two rappers say that they've been to the same school as each other since year 1 till the end of year 11 where Vapourtwist dropped out of school whereas Kav stayed in school for another year to do his A-levels but Kav ended up dropping out of school after the first year of A-levels.
Even though they part ways after year 11 they still kept in touch and saw each other a lot when they had time because of "the connection".


Why did you start rapping?

Vapourtwist said "I started rapping after I dropped out of school, the reason why i dropped out was because I didn't get the grades I was hoping to get so i just dropped out. My parents were worried that i would end up on the streets and ruin my life but i wanted to do them proud and started thinking about my life. That's when i thought of going college but I wanted to give something else a go for a year but if all else fails then I'd go to college. I tried applying for a jobs etc. but it didn't work so i decided to try rapping because i used to rap along with songs of other artists and iwas told that I had it in me so i gave it a go and it worked".

Kav on the other hand said "I wanted to carry on in school and go university but as i progressed through my first year of A-levels, I started thinking what can i do with my life. That's when i thought i should try rapping as I've always written songs but never tried rapping properly so i gave it a go. The response i got was good so i decided to drop out of school to focus on my rapping".

 "We thank god for blessing us with this life", both rappers expressed how lucky they felt.

Will you form a duo?
"We've discussed this many times and we have decided to wait for a couple months then there could be a possibility of us forming a duo", Vapourtwist explains that the two rappers had already discussed the chance of them forming a duo.

"I think that it'd be great to work as a duo with my long time friend Vapourtwist and it would hopefully be a good decision".

Things you miss the most and regrets?

 " I miss my secondary school days because then I'd just go into school and chill with my mates but now we don't see each other much as we used to. My biggest regret would be not concentrating on my GCSE's because I wanted to do my parents proud by getting good results but that didn't happen because I wasn't thinking straight back in the day.", Vapourtwist tells us what he feels deep down.

"I miss my mates from my old school as we don't see each other much now but the only people i see now are only a couple of us. My biggest regret is not staying in school and getting a degree in something in university but considering how far I've come now i don't regret it as much as i did in the early days of my career", it seems like Vapourtwist and Kav have very mutual feeling about the things they miss and their regrets.

"Alright guys we're off now but we'll catch you later and thats hopefully before we form the duo, Peace". After saying that both rappers had to go leave.

Introduction...Vapourtwist point of view and a bit about him....Kav point of view and a bit about him…will they form a duo in the near future?...Thoughts about this potential album (conclusion).

Yes this is the latest buzz in the rap industry at the moment. The word is out that rappers Vapourtwist and Kav have planned to do a collab album. This is something that most people didn't see happening for a couple years due to other projects of the rappers' but somehow they had managed to decide and schedule this collab album.

Vapourtwist is a 22 year old rapper born in Brixton, London. He didn't have plans to become a rapper at first but then after secondary school he decided to do something else but wanted to keep off the streets at the same time. That's when he decided to try out rapping because he was always told that he had the skill within him so he thought he'd give it a try. He soon built a connection with his music and he started to enjoy it a lot more. That same year he released a mix-tape which made him, the mix-tape brought record label contracts to him and he finally secured a record contract at the age of 18. Since then he has brought us rap music which was very similar to the old school rap. Now he's to do the collab album and when we asked him about how he felt about this collab album, he said "I've always wanted to make an album with Kav since we're both rappers and good friends who go way back to secondary school. So I put all other plans aside and contacted him and asked about this album and we both agreed this will be a good idea. So yeah that's how this idea came about and I believe this album would be good."

Kav is a 22 year old rapper born in Brixton, London. He went to the same secondary school as fellow rapper Vapourtwist as we already know. Kav started his A-levels unlike rapper Vapourtwist who decided to not return to school. Kav done his AS and decided to drop out as he didn't want to go university any longer due to his passion for rapping. There onwards he started practicing his rapping eventually released his mix-tape 1 and a half years later. He became widely recognised because of his unique rapping skills and he was signed to a record label later that year.  Ever since his record label contract he has brought us with music which is very similar to Vapourtwist yet unique. When we asked Kav about this collab album, he said "I'm looking forward to completing this album and getting the response from Vapourtwist's and my fans. I hope the album would turn out good and I'm more excited in making this album more than my first album which I was extremely excited for.”

Both rappers seem to have a mutual interest in forming a duo together. But this solely depends on the success of this upcoming album. Vapourtwist had said that one of the main purposes of the album was to encourage other young artists to stay off the dangerous streets and focus in getting their lives sorted out. The main reason for Vapourtwist focusing on this is because he had lost one of his close friends out there before so he doesn’t want it to happen to other young people as well.

So far the only details that we know about the album is that most of the songs will be just with the two artists but there is going to be other feature artists in this album. The first single will be released in the next month and the other singles will follow.  

This leaves us to say that hopefully this album will do well and we are looking forward to this album and I’m pretty sure a lot of the artists’ fans are looking forward to the release of this album which will be in a couple months.  Also we hope the pair form a duo in the future.

Contents page constuction

I started off by setting the dimensions of a blank page, I used the same dimensions as my front page.

Then i imported a picture that would be the background for my contents page:

I inserted the title for the contents page using the text tool:

Then I inserted the text boxes using the ruler tool and fill tool. Also I inserted the second image for the page.

 Next i filled in all the text boxes with the text tool:

 Then I inserted 'vapourtwist' behind the image:

I wasn't satisfied with the contents page title so i changed it:
